Parent Coaching:
Supporting Cognitive Development in Children

The Parent Coaching pathway equips families to support the development of their child’s thinking processes. Many learning difficulties are not due to a lack of ability, but rather to underdeveloped cognitive skills that underpin learning. When processes such as attention, memory, and executive functioning are not yet fully developed, children may struggle to concentrate, organise their thinking, and complete tasks consistently.

The CogniEnhance Parent Coaching programme provides parents with the understanding and practical tools to guide their child through structured cognitive development activities. Parents learn how attention, memory, and executive functioning shape learning - and how these abilities can be strengthened through targeted exercises.

The programme combines hands-on activities with guidance that helps parents recognise how their child approaches tasks and where cognitive pressure may arise. As children engage with these activities, they progressively strengthen the thinking processes that support learning across areas such as reading, writing, and mathematics.

Over time, children build stronger cognitive foundations and develop greater awareness of how they think. This enables them to regulate their approach more effectively, particularly when tasks become challenging.
